VT Widening Inclusivity in the (Geo)sciences

Our Fall 2023 schedule is available.

We’ve made some changes.

VT WInGS was founded to increase professional engagement and opportunities for women in the geosciences.

That’s nowhere near enough.

In January 2020 we became Widening Inclusivity in the (Geo)Sciences because we need to increase diversity, equity, and inclusion in our field and in all science.

We discuss career development, mentoring and diversity, and the inevitable challenges faced at every level of academia.

Please join us. All are welcome.

We meet monthly and welcome the insights of speakers from Virginia Tech and many other universities. If you are interested in becoming a guest speaker, please email us at: women-in-geosciences-g@vt.edu.

As part of this group, the mentorship program (See Mentoring) is designed to create symbiotic relationships between undergraduate and graduate students and PhDs, encouraging undergraduates to seek advice from graduate students regarding their future academic plans and for graduate students to gain experience as mentors.
