John Chermak
I am an environmental geochemist and In my career I have been involved for more than 25 years in the scientific, engineering, environmental, social, and political aspects of permitting, construction, operation, and closure of cradle to grave resource extraction in 14 states and 9 countries. Currently at Virginia Tech I continue to bring the “real world” to the classroom and try to engage students within the subject areas of Resource Extraction, Energy, and the Environment. In my classes I use active pedagogies to promote student learning. I continue to work on numerous projects in the US and internationally.
